Twenty-eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Oct 15, 2023

We are first touched by the power of the Holy Spirit of God in the Sacrament of Baptism, and then life-long Catholics typically have the opportunity to be renewed in that power later through the Sacrament of Confirmation.  The many choices we face in the world today can be guided by this divine wisdom.  You are invited to witness 24 of our parishioners “be sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit” by Bishop Dennis Madden next Saturday at the 5:00 PM Mass. We pray that they may be blessed by God’s gifts of grace, strength, and wisdom.

November holds a special place in church tradition as a time to remember our deceased loved ones.   You are invited to use the form on our parish website (or in the bulletin) to submit the names of family members and friends who have died during the past year, so that they can be included in a Litany of Remembrance to be prayed at all Masses on the weekend of 4/5 November.

Please remember that the second collection next weekend is for our Haiti Partnership Fund.  With your generosity, we have continued to make investments in the future of Haiti through supporting educational endeavors and church building projects, in addition to our regular commitment to fund the lay ministers’ stipends at our partner parish St. Hubert. The insert in this week’s bulletin offers photos and more details.

We are planning to provide a qualified slate of candidates for our Pastoral Council elections next month.  If you have been contacted to run in the election, or if you are offering yourself in service to your parish in this way, please remember to submit your resume and photo to the parish office by next weekend.  We like to make this election information available to all parishioners on our website and in the narthex for two weekends in preparation for voting.

Make sure you tell your friends and neighbors about our annual HarvestFest on 28 October!

Fr. Keith
