November has a special place in church tradition as a time to remember our deceased loved ones. Our Litany of Remembrance at all Masses this weekend recalls in prayer our family members and friends who have died in the past year. You may also list others in the Book of the Dead (located near the baptismal font), or as intentions on the All Souls envelope (received in your envelope packet) which will be honored on the altar during Masses in November.
Voting in our Pastoral Council elections is now underway on our parish website and will continue until 17 November. Candidates’ resumes and photos are posted in the church narthex and on the website. Please prayerfully review them in order to discern our future parish leadership. Paper ballots will be available after all Masses the weekend of 18/19 November.
Margaret Moos is coordinating our “Almost Christmas” Pageant again this year, helping children to learn the real “reason for the season”. You will be able to register your child(ren) to participate over the next two weekends in the narthex, and everyone is invited to the pageant on Sunday 17 December at 6:00 PM.
We have received Archdiocesan approval and are awaiting our final building permit from the City of Frederick to begin construction on our parish Memorial Garden. I will be making a presentation at all Masses next weekend (with video) concerning the design, and there will be a narthex table available after Mass throughout November with pricing and more information. Between now and Christmas we will be offering parishioners a $250 pre-construction discount.
Thanks to all who have supported the work of Heartly House in the area of domestic abuse by donating gifts cards during the month of October—and to all those who took part in the Frederick Forty Days for Life vigil which ends this weekend. There is information about our November collection of items for the Frederick Emergency Shelter on a bulletin insert.
