A life of prayer is essential to developing a relationship with God, and you are invited to use the Advent booklets that are provided for use at home.  Joining in the rosary before Mass during Advent may also open up some meditative space in your life during what is usually a very hectic season. And a prayer service for lighting the Advent Wreath at home is included on a bulletin insert this week to assist your family in remembering the “reason for the season.”

Many thanks to all who contributed to the collection on Thanksgiving Day for the Religious Coalition for Emergency Human Needs.  Because of your generosity, we collected over $700 to support their work here in Frederick County.  Next weekend is the deadline for participation in our annual Christmas basket program benefiting the poor at Saint Gregory’s parish in inner city Baltimore.  Details about the program are available elsewhere in the bulletin.

We offer a blessing of expectant parents twice each year during weekend Mass.  Please alert family members and friends who may want to share in this blessing at the 9:00 AM Mass next Sunday—and register with pastoral associate Brian McCrohan in the Parish Office this week if you plan to attend.

Our Social Justice Ministry has produced an “Alternate Giving” catalogue that you might use in making donations to local charities as Christmas gifts for some on your shopping list this year. These catalogues are available at the narthex Gift Card table.

This Friday we celebrate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, and this is a Holyday of Obligation.  Masses will be celebrated at 8:30 AM and 7:00 PM in our church.  Join your family of faith in celebrating how faithful Mary was in her response to God’s call—right from the very start of her existence.

A number of items can be memorialized in our new Memorial Garden, so please use the donation form in the bulletin if you would like to support this project.
