Officers were elected at the January meeting of the 2024 Pastoral Council, and so we offer prayerful support and congratulations to: Wil Graham (President), Laurel Swencki (Vice-President), Julie Henderson (Recording Secretary), and Kathy Jones (Corresponding Secretary). The Pastoral Council meets monthly and advises me, as pastor, regarding major decisions and future planning.
Our Annual Team Trivia night is scheduled for Saturday 27 January, and has always engendered a lot of good-natured high-spirited competition among the teams that participate. Get your group of six (high school age and older) together and register after Mass in the narthex this weekend and next!
During our new church construction, we were forced to take some cost-saving measures to keep the project within budget. One was to remove a sliding wall which would isolate the carpeted Drexel Place area from the Kate’s Café area. We are often short on meeting space, and the original design intended for this to be a meeting room, which could also be opened up. During the next month, we will be installing ceiling tracks and then the movable wall panels to fulfill this original design. I am told this will not affect our ability to use this space during weekend Masses.
We are planning to start a group doing “chair exercises” at the end of January. This is open to everyone, but especially seniors who are not mobile enough for other aerobics. We’re hoping it can also be a source of socialization during the cold of winter. Please sign up at the Welcome Center and come to the organizational meeting on Thursday 25 January.
High school and college students take note that the completed applications and essays for the Drexel Essay Contest are due in the parish office by this Monday. Also, our Sanctuary of Hope mental health course is starting this week on Tuesday. You can register using the information found in the bulletin.
