Lent starts early this year and so we are in the midst of selling tickets for the Drexel Mardi Gras celebration to be held on 3 February. The successor to the Drexel Ball, this event funds our parish scholarship fund, and the scholarships awarded through the Drexel Essay Contest each year. I hope you will consider getting a ticket and joining the fun!
Our Knights of Columbus are distributing baby bottles this weekend to benefit the Frederick CareNet pregnancy care center, providing pregnancy and childcare support services, as well as post-abortion counselling. The Knights are hoping you will fill the bottle with spare change or some other donation (checks payable to CareNet of Frederick). Please return the bottles to the narthex the following weekend.
To assist in your income tax preparation, we will soon be providing access to financial statements for all registered households from which we received recordable income during 2023. If you are not contacted by us (or have any questions about your statement), please contact our Director of Finance Pat O’Connor in the parish office and she will assist you.
Catholic Schools Week will be observed at our parish next Sunday at the 11:00 AM Mass, and children from various Catholic Schools in Frederick County will be serving in some of the ministries at that Mass. All Catholic School students are reminded to wear their uniforms to Mass next weekend.
Please note that when Frederick County Public Schools are closed, we do NOT have weekday Mass, but when delayed, we DO have weekday Mass.
A word of thanks to Fr. Mike McDermott for covering weekend and weekday Masses while I am away for my winter reading time.
