Fr. Keith’s Korner –

Last Sunday afternoon almost 500 people filled McElroy Hall in the school building for my retirement party: “An Afternoon to Remember” … and it was an afternoon to remember! The room was filled with love, and I was a bit overwhelmed by the outpouring of gratitude, finding it difficult to speak at the end.  My deepest appreciation to all those who organized, set up, cleaned up, and executed the event, and know that I will always cherish the memory.

Our annual Vacation Bible School (VBS) will be held this summer from 24-28 June in McElroy Hall from 9:00 AM-12:30 PM each day.  Every year it is so inspiring to see our parish children singing and praising the Lord with such joy and enthusiasm each morning!  I encourage you to enroll your children using the registration form that is available on our parish website.  Those who wish to volunteer may also sign up on our website.  A Middle School VBS will also be available that week from 12:30 PM-3:30 PM Sunday through Thursday.

This weekend, we acknowledge the gift of our mothers, and pray that God may bless them with happiness and peace, in return for the selfless love they have shared with their children over so many years. Even when our mothers are deceased, they continue to shower their love upon us. We are grateful to our Knights of Columbus who are presenting all mothers with a marigold after Mass.  Happy Mother’s Day!

As is our tradition, we are planning a festive celebration of the Feast of Pentecost as the “Birthday of the Church” next weekend.  Don’t forget to wear some red clothing to Mass, and to purchase tickets for our annual Pentecost Breakfast, which celebrates the Holy Spirit’s vibrant presence in our local community of faith.  The breakfast will be held in McElroy Hall in the school building starting at 10:00 AM, so you can either stay after the 9:00 AM Mass, or arrive early for breakfast before the 11:00 AM Mass.
