The Most Holy Trinity

May 26, 2024

Last Monday Saint John’s Catholic Prep scheduled a “day of service to the community” and about 20 students spent several hours working with some of our parish volunteers to mulch many of the raingardens surrounding our church building.  We want to thank these students from our local Catholic High School for assisting members of our parish Environmental Stewardship Ministry that day, and also thank parishioner Pat Christoff of LawnPerfect Landscaping for delivering the mulch.

The National Eucharistic Pilgrimage is crossing the country from several starting points this spring and converging on Indianapolis as the final destination.  The pilgrimage path starting in New England is coming through Frederick County on Thursday 6 June, and you may join a part of the procession either in the morning or the afternoon that day in Emmitsburg.  A bulletin insert offers more information about the event.

Each parish of the Archdiocese of Baltimore is incorporated individually in the State of Maryland, and the officers of each parish corporation include the Archbishop, the vicar bishop (or delegate), the pastor, and two parishioners.  The officers meet quarterly to review the state of the corporation, and each year issue an annual report.  Steve Heine and Mary Beth Clark have served our parish faithfully for many years as corporators through numerous building campaigns and countless other challenges, and we thank them for their dedication.  Their terms will end on 1 July, and we welcome Ken Morrow and Mike Devlin who have graciously agreed to serve as our new corporators.

As we celebrate Memorial Day, our thoughts turn to Americans who have sacrificed their lives over the past two centuries to preserve the freedom we enjoy in this country, and to secure that same freedom for those of other countries.  This weekend, please pause for a moment to remember those in the past who have made the ultimate sacrifice of their lives for us.
