Cub Scouts

Volunteer Contact:  George Cleaver, Cubmaster

Pack 48 was chartered through Saint Katherine Drexel Catholic Church in Frederick, MD in 2003.

We are a fun pack enjoying activities such as camping, hiking, pinewood derbies, rain gutter regattas, fishing derbies, and bike derbies. The pack also provides a foundation of civic responsibility and Christian values through participation in activities at St. Katherine Drexel and within the Frederick community.

Boys in 1st through 5th grade (7 to 10 years old) are shown friendship, citizenship, physical fitness, and spiritual growth in a family-oriented pack. We have Pack Meetings one Thursday evening a month during the school year. and we encourage all family members to attend. Den meetings are usually twice a month. Separate Den meetings are also held one or two times per month at dates, times and locations determined by each Den Leader. Cub Scouts requires parental involvement so be ready to help your young scout on this great adventure.

Scouts USA, Boys and Girls

 Volunteer Contact: Deacon Jeff Sutterman

Scouting is a year-round program for boys and girls beginning at age 11 (or are at least 10 years old and have completed the fifth grade or have earned the Cub Scout Arrow of Light Award) and continues through age 17.  The scouts grow in leadership as they plan and organize their own meetings and events with the help of their adult leaders.  Troop 48 is a troop formed in September 2010 in conjunction with the Saint Katharine Drexel parish youth ministry. Our troop belongs to the National Capital Area Council, Catoctin Mountain District. If you want more information about our troop or are interested in joining, email Deacon Jeff Sutterman.
