Becoming Catholic
OCIA — ORDER OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTSHave you been yearning for a closer relationship with God? We’d love to walk with you on this journey.
Your Next Step
You’re Welcome Here
Have you been yearning for a closer relationship with God, a deeper sense of meaning in your life, and a community who will support, encourage, and challenge you to grow? You’ve come to the right place.
At Saint Katharine Drexel, we welcome adults into the Catholic faith through a process called the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) — formerly known as RCIA. This is not a class or a test. It’s a journey of faith, walked together with others who are asking the same questions you are.
Through OCIA, adults and children over the age of seven are welcomed into the Church. Depending on where you are in your faith journey, your path may look a little different:
- Not yet baptized — You will be welcomed through Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation
- Baptized in another Christian denomination — You are invited to celebrate Confirmation and Eucharist
- Baptized Catholic but not yet confirmed — We’ll help you complete your initiation
- Just exploring — That’s completely fine too. There’s no pressure and no obligation
