I am sad to see so much division and animosity in our country. People will always disagree on important issues, but the vitriol that is so much a part of country right now is disheartening.

It saddens me that we call the US “the land of the free” yet only the “chosen and lucky” are allowed to live freely in this country. All should be allowed to live with the basic essentials of life without fear.

One of the fractures I see that marks our current national life is the disrespectful language we’ve become accustomed to using in social media. Online venues, like this one, and social media are great for exchanging ideas. However, I think empathy and fear of hurting others is lost in online conversations.
