Saint Katharine Drexel is a diverse, joyful Catholic parish in Frederick, Maryland. We gather each week rooted in the Eucharist — and we believe that the table is wide enough for everyone.
Whether you’re a lifelong Catholic, someone returning to the Church after time away, or someone exploring faith for the very first time — you’ll find people here at every stage of the journey. We grow together, serve together, and celebrate together.
We take our name from Saint Katharine Drexel, a woman of extraordinary faith who gave her life and her fortune in service of those on the margins. Her spirit of open hands and loving heart shapes everything we do.

Our Pastor
Father Matthew Buening
Fr. Matt came to Saint Katharine Drexel in 2024 and hit the ground running — bringing energy, warmth, and a genuine love for this community that is impossible to miss. Whether he’s at the ambo, at the door after Mass, or in the middle of a parish event, Fr. Matt leads with joy and makes everyone feel like they belong.
His vision for SKD is bold and clear: a parish where faith is lived out loud, where joy is contagious, and where every single person — no matter where they’re coming from — finds a home.
